No one can deny that our world and humanity are suffering. The next Yarilo production “Creating in Dangerous Times” will make the case that music, poetry and dance can free us to respond to crises and soothe the human soul, helping us find hope and inspiration. Join violinist Joan Blackman, saxophonist Julia Nolan, bassist Jodi Proznick, pianist Jane Hayes with special guest Celeste Nazeli Snowber in an evening of carefully curated music.
The program will have a range of compositional styles from the jazz-world of Jodi Proznick, David Freund and Jimuel Dave Dagta to the poignantly colourful sounds of Jocelyn Morlock and Ida Gotkovsky. Weaving it all together will be poetry and improvisational dance by performance artist/dancer/poet Celeste Nazeli Snowber. In Celeste’s words, “These will be short meditations to infuse sustenance to the creative life in the midst of difficult times which addresses how as human beings we welcome resistance in our lives and demonstrate resilience in the midst of obstacles.”
