On Sunday, March 3, at 2:00 p.m., come join Yarilo Music Ensemble pianist Anna Levy, with special guests Karina Slupski, violin, and Ben Goheen, cello, for a complete performance of Tchaikovsky’s monumental and tragic Trio for Violin, Cello, and Piano in A Minor, Op. 50. This a challenging and demanding work of over 45 minutes duration. Scored for the traditional combination of piano, violin, and cello, it was composed in Rome between December 1881 and late January 1882. The trio is subtitled In memory of a great artist, in reference to his close friend and mentor Nikolai Rubinstein, who had died on 23 March 1881.
Also on the program will be Rachmaninoff’s popular Vocalise in an arrangement for Cello and Piano. Stay for some refreshments afterwards and meet our performers.
