Dear Music Lovers,
On Saturday,August 18th, at 8 p.m. Christ Church Cathedral, Vancouver, You will have the chance to enjoying two great piano concertos performed in the form of Duo piano!
We start with our concert with Brahms’s monumental piano concerto No.2 in b-flat major, one of the longest piano concerto with its four-movement structure just like the symphony. According to many pianist, such as Vladimir Horowitz, “there is no greater piano concerto than Brahms’s second.” The audience can truly appreciate the maturity of this gigantic work in which Brahms fully express himself.
In second half, we will have a shorter work but equally exciting if not more virtuoso than the previous. As an embodiment of Virtuosity, Franz Liszt dazzling the public with his light speed octave and jaw dropping arpeggios and changes the standard of being a concert pianist forever. His first piano concerto in e-flat is the first perfect realisation of cyclic sonata form even though only being single-movement. This technical demanding work contains all the Liszt’s trademark, octave jumping, chromatic chord smashing together and fast splendid moving scale will surly left audience in awe!
